Holiday Coverage and Pay Policy
As a 24/7 business we believe we have a commitment to our customers, therefore, everyone is on a holiday rotation regardless of tenure. The only two holidays of the year that the office is closed is the day Thanksgiving and Christmas are observed. Otherwise, we expect there to be some office coverage as well as determined by the GM.
We have 6 paid holidays a year plus two floating holidays.
To qualify for holiday pay you must be full time and have 6 months tenure.
To get paid for the holiday you must work your full scheduled day before the holiday and the scheduled day after it.
Holiday pay cannot be combined with PTO. If multiple days are approved around a holiday, PTO must be used.
When an hourly tech works the actual holiday, he gets paid for his time (straight time) and he gets another day off that is approved by the GM with pay.
When a commission tech works the actual holiday, he gets paid his commissions and he takes another day off that is approved by the GM with pay (that pay is the previously agreed upon hourly rate, or in some cases, the average the past three months commissions).
Holiday pay is based on an 8-hour day regardless of an employee’s normal schedule.
Generally speaking, we ask that those who work the holiday take a different day off within a week of either side of the holiday.
The location GM is to split manpower coverage on/around holidays to ensure that we are properly staffed for holidays. Sometimes those days may be slow so it is his discretion to let people go home early if they request it.
